Where We Lived: Discovering the Places We Once Called Home: The American Home from 1775 to 1840 by Jack Larkin
One of my favorite books of the year. Using historical documents and photographs from the Historic American Buildings Survey, Larkin surveys architectural styles for American homes from the colonial period through 1840, tracing regional variations and practices. Visually beautiful and excellently written.
