There's so much in here about the self-aggrandising nature of anthropocentric thought; which seems to ignore how a text like this very much exists within and perpetuates that paradigm.

Academic writing is its own beast of course but there's a certain belabouring of the point and an over-working of language in this text. To be so afraid of brevity and clarity suggests to me always an obscuration of the weakness of one's text within itself.
