Eli Simon

Eli Simon is a professor of Acting at the University of California, Irvine. He has directed over 100 plays, musicals, and original works at Shakespearean, regional, and university theatres. A specialist in masking, commedia, and clowns, Simon has taught and directed at training programs and show more professional theatres throughout America, Korea, Italy, Spain, Romania, and England. His clown troupe, CLOWNZILLA, has received critical acclaim in the United States and at international theatre festivals and his previous book is Masking Unmasked: Four Basic Approaches to Acting (2003). Simon holds a BA in Drama from UC Davis and an MFA in Acting from Brandeis. He lives in Irvine with his wife, daughter, and standard poodle. show less
