A good book to identify herbs that may already be in your garden. It offers the botanical name as well as the common with photographs of each. There are also short descriptions of each herb giving details to its cultivation, propagation and growing habit. Contains brief information regarding the ways in which to grow herbs. It's a good starting off point but not alot of indepth information.
Gorgeously illustrated and informative encyclopedia. Split into 6 mains sections.

1. History & current: history of herbs, list of major herbals, plant classifications & restrictions.
2. Designing a herb garden: number of designs and plantinmg lists illustrated with colour sketches.
3. Using herbs: culinary, medicinal and cosmetic uses
4. Herbs in the wild: info on herbs used in different countries around the world
5. Herb catalogue: first part is A-Z illustrated with colour photos and key to show more parts of plant used, uses, hardines. Second part text only and expands on info given in keys under photos.
6. Cultivating herbs: how to choose, grow, propagate and harvest.

A comprehensive list of herbs and their uses. Has sections on folklore and myth, herbs throughout history, books published about herbs, herb gardens, container gardens, and medicinal uses of herbs. Includes Latin names. Lots of incorrect and mistaken information about witches, witchcraft and paganism.
Clear photos, propagation, cultivation and uses well described. When my basil is dying, I'll turn to this!
