Well, it interests me to read academic analysis of mainstream "apocalyptic" movies like "Taxi Driver" & "Mad Max" but, more often than not, academic language seems so far removed from 'reality' in a way that only seems dubiously truly intellectual that I get a bit irritated, y'know? I mean, essay titles like "Panic Cinema: Sex in the Age of the Hyperreal" & "cybersubjectivity and cinematic being" tend to leave me wishing for a little more sense of humor.
