Old Crompton's Secret by Harl Vincent
This is worth 2 1/2 stars really, but I've bumped it up to 3, based on the excellent reading of the librivox narrator.
This story was what I would call philosophical sci fi. The characters weren't at all likeable, but it makes you think.
