The 6th volume of the collected erotic funny animal soap opera, "Omaha the Cat Dancer". I once had a first date who examined my library (an inclination I share when visiting others' homes), and dismissed this as pornography. I disagreed, but couldn't really articulate my reasoning. Now, I think I've decided that with porn, the main thrust of it (so to speak) is the sex. Here, it's primarily a good storyline with compelling and flawed characters who are various types of humanized animals. It show more just doesn't change scenes when a sexual situation arises. This would be quite a savory stew even without the sex. The sex just adds spice, as in real life. show less
Continues the soapy adult drama of Omaha, a feline exotic dancer, and the other denizens of her world. I was saddened to read in Dennis Kitchen's foreword that Reed and Waller had broken professional relations after a physical altercation. After a long period in which each made new lives for themselves and dealt with cancer issues, they reunited to complete their long storyline. Kate Worley died when her cancer returned, and her writer husband, James Vance took over. This book has very much show more of a coming home feeling, in which Chuck and Omaha resume their lives together after he is released from the hospital. Other players in the cast, with a few exceptions, begin to see old conflicts resolved and a path to some kind of happiness. But there's still plenty of intrigue foreshadowed. Nice stories of relationships, good humor and a fair amount of funny-animal erotica. show less
A continuation of Reed Waller's and Kate Worley's erotic funny animal comic soap opera, collecting issues 14 through 17. Plenty of intrigue, drama, romance, good dialogue and sex. "The Young and the Restless" meets Looney Tunes, with no censorship. With a foreword by Neil Gaiman.
"Omaha is a spunky, sexy, cleanly drawn contemporary soap opera about the life and loves of a nude terpsichorean who happens to be a, er, uh, a cat. It is a magazine that has the religious right crazed. It is wonderful" - Harlan Ellison. I'll go along with that, although it has gotten a little dated in tone over the years.
