The start of this book grabbed me, and I just sat and read and read. I was thrilled! Life's not been too good to Norma - she's a plain Jane, her divorce, her "profession", its sorta like she's still not one of the cool kids from High School. Then her dad dies, leaves her money, and she runs off to the Orkney Islands in Scotland. So far, so good. She meets handsome, wonderful painter Brian and she falls in love within seconds.
Then the middle of the book sort of lost me. It got a little odd and show more the boy meets girl, boy looses girl formula was running away -- it felt very much like a psycho babble soap opera-- and I just wanted resolution already.
That said, I still hope Nancy Baxter has written more than just this first novel, as it showed great promise, just needed a better editing job! show less
