Mayme Sevander (1924–2003)

This was an interesting read about a little known aspect of U.S. history. Thousands of Finnish-Americans living in the upper mid-west were recruited to move to the Soviet Union in the 1930s. This book talks about the story of one such family, and the hardships they endured in Stalinist Russia. This is a good read if you are interested in Soviet, Finnish, or U.S. history. As someone who grew up near many of the mid-western cities mentioned, this was a revealing look at some of our forgotten show more stories. show less
