This is a 2007 reprint of Sarah Don's book originally published in 1980. Prior to the publication of Sharon Miller's Heirloom Lace, this book and Gladys Amedro's Shetland Lace were two of the best available resources for Shetland knitting. Don begins with a brief history of Shetland knitting, followed by an outline of the process for making and dressing gossamer Shetland shawls. This is followed by a stitch dictionary of typical Shetland lace patterns, and patterns for 7 garments. For show more whatever reason, Lacis elected not to provide charts for this reissue, which somewhat limits its usefulness for modern knitters. show less
