I was pretty impressed. It does a good job dealing with tough issues fairly, was well-researched, and the prose is very straightforward. It is very detailed, though, so if you don't care about the minutiae of who coached Kahuku when, it will be too detailed for you. If you're ready for the detail though I'd really recommend it. I think it would be teachable, especially since there is so much YouTube you could assign to watch alongside it.
