Dutch Simplified: An Easy and Rapid Self-instructor (Hugo's Simplified System) by Hugo
By far the best of the introductory Dutch texts from the first half of the 20th century. Well explained, well graduated, and with a surprisingly helpful scheme of typefaces.

Danish in Three Months (Hugo) by Knud Ravnkilde
Bought this when I was working in Sudan with a Danish aid agency, but never got round to learning Danish - in HQ in Copenhagen they all speak English, and anyway I had enough trouble keeping my Arabic up to scratch without learning another new language.
