Received an ARC for honest review for netgalley. Enjoyed book, every now and then you did want to knock out Avery, but then you had to remember that he was used to being that way. Enjoyed seeing him and Stephanie's relationship progress, also liked the fact that they did not just jump into a sexual relationship, as most books tend to do. Loved secondary characters, Alex was hilarious, he was the life of the party, and sweet when he needed to be, would not mind a book on him. You just had to show more love Seb, what a great brother, he was always there for her and showed her how much he loved her. One of my favorite scenes was his phone call with Avery warning him not to hurt Stephanie because would hurt Avery if he did, showing his priority for his family. I was truly disappointed in Avery when everything came to light, but I was proud of Stephanie for sticking up for herself. Of course it was fantastic how quickly Avery realized his error and wanted to fix it. As he saw he was losing her, and was truly heartbroken, he tried to do everything within his power to fix it, and he should have she deserved it. Again I will say, how could you not love Seb when he came at Avery on the ice in defense of his much beloved sister, it was heartwarming, and heartbreaking at the same time reading Avery suffering, thankfully it all got resolved, including things with the obnoxious dad. Enjoyed book, hope you do too! show less
I have read a few race car romances, but they have featured male drivers. I like that this series features female drivers..."Woman Power".
Wow, what a first meeting again between Lucia and Nick. First, they were arguing with each other and the next moment, they were messing up the bedsheets. While I don't like people up in my space, I would not mind a bodyguard, if he was someone like Nick.
It was nice to see both a vulnerable side and strong side to Lucia. It made her more relatable and show more engaging. In addition to dealing with a mental disability. One that does not hinder Lucia. It is just nice to see characters dealing with physical/mental conditions and not them being hidden as something to be ashamed of. This book may be a romance, but it is not just about that. There is a really good storyline woven in with the romance. show less

I have read these books backwards by starting with book two. Yet, these books can be read as standalone books. Having now read both books, I have to say that this one is my favorite. Ooh, all the spicy goodness!
I forgot whatever Billie might have done to Frankie in the past. As they, were bringing the heat in the present. I do have to give it up to Frankie for trying her best to try and resist Billie. Every time that they were around each other, they could not keep their hands off one show more another.
If I had read this book first, I can guarantee you that I definitely would have been hooked and wanted to read book two. I will be reading more of this author's books. show less

I thought that this book was really well done. This is the fourth book in the San Francisco Thunder series but it would work as a stand-alone story. I jumped into this series on the second book and have enjoyed the books that I have read so I was really looking forward to starting this book. Once I started reading, I didn't want to stop. These characters made me feel things and I really couldn't wait to see how everything would work out for them. I had a great time reading this book.
Winnie show more is at a low point when this book starts. Her father has just passed away from a long term illness and she is having a very hard time moving on like the rest of her family. She decides that it is past time to break things off with her long term boyfriend and she just wants to be left alone to try to recover. She does not expect Holden and his camper to invade her space and peace while he renovates the family cabin.
I loved these two characters. Winnie's pain was so raw and it felt really authentic to me. I understood her need to grieve in her own way even if it didn't always seem to be the healthiest choice. Holden just wanted to get a fresh start. He did a lot of things as a teenager that he isn't proud of but he is working hard to be a good man. I felt so bad for him as the entire town seemed to only want to judge him for who he was in the past. As Holden's past was revealed, his story broke my heart and I wanted to see him get his second chance.
I thought that Winnie and Holden were perfect together. They seemed to just know what each other needed and their chemistry was off the charts. They both had a few doubts at times but as they grew to know each other and started ignoring others, their relationship blossomed. There were quite a few heart-melting scenes that I found really well written.
I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be a really solid romance between two characters working to put the pieces of their lives back together. I thought that Winnie's grief over the loss of her father was quite powerful and very well written. I can't wait to read more from Victoria Denault soon!
