Linda has lost her husband and now must face being alone. As she contemplates her life, she comes to a realization that even from the grave, her deceased husband is still in control. Linda is an unhappy person and has. Been for many years. She is use to having her deceased husband direct her every move. How did she allow this to happen? What will she do to be her own person? Seems that things need to change or she will become a lonely widow with nothing to look forward to. Linda makes a plan show more and on her list is a much needed trip to a place she has never been. She jets off to Fiji and soon meets a man that shows Linda how a gentleman treats a lady. Will she find love ? Are there answers waiting for her to take control of her life?

The story is not just about romance but of finding yourself in the murkiness of your own life. It is not easy to break old habits. The author does an excellent job of writing Linda's struggles as she transforms into a new person. I'm glad the author slowly developed Linda's many stages of grief. She goes through anger, guilt, denial and a sense of loss in a mature way. The emotions were raw and exposed a side that many of us go through when facing new challenges. The book is a short read, but it is packed with laughter, tears and gives the readers a look at life and what their purpose may be. The theme was one of becoming strong, and overcoming the feeling of having no future. Perhaps after reading the book, readers may take a look at their own life and say hello to a brighter and happier future and goodbye to unhappiness and the thoughts that keep them from living a life of fulfillment .

I received a copy of this book from Librarything for an honest review.

I picked up this book in an attempt to master the art of writing book reviews further. This is a hobby of mine, and I like to practice it in combination with my "day job" of computer programming.

This "indie" author provides an introduction to book reviewing. It reads conversationally - in a change of pace from the more formal tone of my other scientific readings. The writing is pleasant; however, I found myself sometimes bugged by her consistent use of the word "although" (which is a show more subordinating conjunction - tying to clauses into one sentence) when a word like "however" (a coordinating conjunction - a part of speech that ties two separate sentences together) would be more appropriate.

It's helpful to learn the business side of book reviews. I would like to have heard more about this angle.

The Book Does Make It Easy

I picked up this book because I try to leave reviews on the books I read. If life is going at rocket speed I may just leave a star rating with the intention of a later review. Even though I have written a few reviews I frequently feel that my review could be better. I believe we are constantly learning and everything can be improved upon. This book offers a lot of help in writing reviews. I think it is aimed at those who never write reviews or a beginner. I am show more neither but I found a lot of good information in the book. I especially am fond of the templates and examples that were toward the end. The one thing I didn't care for, (it is what lead to the minus star), is the author repeatedly stating that reviews need to be written. This could be because I already understand that. I tried making allowances as I do think her intended audience are those readers who never thought to leave a review. However after a bit I started feeling like I was being beaten up over it. I am certain that was not the intention of the author but it did begin to feel that way. If you are looking for some guidance on how to write reviews I would still recommend this book. The information is worth it. With the exception of the repeated badgering for reviewing, the author writes with a helpful and knowledgeable attitude. The examples and templates are easy to follow and, I thought, very helpful. show less
Foxxy was abandoned as a child and raised in foster homes until she ran away, only to be taken in by a pimp. We start her story right after she's been beaten and gang raped as punishment for holding on on her pimp Eddie. She's vowed to get revenge and make him pay and it had me hooked.
Then the story saunters off into the unbelievable and lost me.

Richard Tate the man of many aliases sees Foxxy at a fund raising event. He decides he must find out who she is and make her part of his life. show more Within one day, he not only finds her but has hired her as an escort and has her in his hotel suite trying to convince the jaded hooker to trust him with all her secrets.

This book started out strong for about a minute and then just fell flat. While the author keeps telling us how big and strong Richard is, he comes across as an insecure and bumbling. His inner dialogue and behavior don't match the rich, strong, confident man the author keeps telling us he is. The other characters are interesting and I liked the idea of Foxxy getting revenge for her abuse and finding a way to help other women but it often felt juvenile. Others may enjoy this story but it wasn't my cup of tea.

I received an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving a review. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/
