ARC Review: The Game Changer (Knights of Passion) by Megan Ryder

Megan Ryder took her best shot and scored one for the home team. The Game Changer took hold of my heart and has yet to let go. The character that left the greatest impact was Savannah. The woman with a huge heart but a battered soul spoke to me. Instead of focusing on her own hurts, she set her sights on helping others (of the four legged variety). Helping animals gave her a sense of peace and purpose that she had long done show more without. Will an adorable stray help her find the love she's craved for so long? I fell so in love with the main characters. The fact that the story had a background centered on sports proved completely irrelevant. show less
I loved Abby but at times she also annoyed me with her indecisiveness even though I totally get it I wanted to shake her at times lol Everyone realised pretty quickly that Abby and Nathan are totally meant for each other however her plan with her bestie for the last few years is to open a coffee shop together but now after finally meeting with her father after he left when she was little, meeting a guy who she could so fall for and being embraced by a town as one of their own in such a short show more time she is torn. You get loads of laughs, times of frustrations, hoping, connection with family and friends old and new as well as two people who are soo matched for each other the whole Town knows it, but Abby and Nathan need to go through some highs and lows before they get on the same page as everyone else!!!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good compilation with something for everyone. Very well worth the .99 cents for Amy Lamont's and Kaylie Newell's books alone! Warning - there's a couple of mini-spoilers towards the end of this review.
I really loved Amy Lamont's Please Have Snow - a followup on one of the characters we met in her Holiday Encounters series. The story is steamy, but also humorous and sweet too. There were a few moments where I actually laughed out loud. Christmas Eve by Kaylie Newell was also great, though a show more shorter novella. This is a second chance at love story, also steamy with some intense emotional scenes. Sizzling in Snowflakes by Elisabeth Mayer was ok -a young adult novella which I usually don't tend to prefer. I enjoyed the story of the primary characters, Kate and Ryan. The book as a whole, however, leans more towards erotica with some unconventional sexual situations that may not appeal to some readers. Regina Kyle's Sugar Plum Seduction is a quick, light read - a nice story, but would have preferred it longer with a little more depth of characters and plot. I began reading Ringing in the New by Nola Cross and Operation Christmas by Megan Ryder but couldn't really get into them so did not finish. Likewise I did not finish Nina Bancroft's A Holiday Prospect - I couldn't get past Lind's behavior, as a boss, towards Tessa - it completely turned me off when he moved himself into her trailer without telling her - so inappropriate, despite the fact they were attracted to each other. All in all, the collection is good and has introduced me to a couple of new authors that I'll be watching for more books by. *I was provided an ARC for an honest review. show less
Something Old is a second chance at love story. A group of friends from college are brought back together for another's wedding by. For Delaney, it's nerve wracking to even think about. She distanced herself from all of her old friends after her father was found to be a con artist & swindler. Society not only turned their backs on her & her mother but physically attacked them. She didn't want to drag her fiancée down with her so to protect him, she broke their engagement. Now she's supposed show more to be the maid of honor & her ex is the best man.

Ethan couldn't believe that Delaney broke up with him when she needed him most. Didn't she trust him? After she broke off the engagement, Ethan went to his family's vineyard & stayed there for several years. He's beginner no to be known as quite a vintner. Now he has to face Delaney again. Are the feelings gone? Do they take a chance at happiness?

I really enjoyed this story. The plot isn't simplistic but takes twists & turns just like real life. The characters have well developed personalities & the interactions between them all are realistic. The hurt feelings come through the writing perfectly as does the chemistry between the couples. There are a couple of sex scenes but they are tastefully done & easy to skip if you want to. I can't wait for Book 2!
