Need something light and easy and NOT depressing. This should do the trick.
(it did)
Okay. I'm so very tempted to give this book 4 stars (which it does not really deserve) simply because it saved me from a reading slump.
And to think I almost did not read it.

It's full of tropes. It's flawed. DEEPLY flawed.
Yet I loved it for those very reasons. And yes, I knew what I was getting into.
Don't get me wrong, I love my books well written and with at least some depth and layers. But sometimes I just show more need a little pick-me-up. Because life sucks, books disappoint, depression reigns. That's why I need something like this every little while.

This book cheered me up. It worked its magic.
Because sometimes you just need a story - not matter how bad or flawed.

I forgot how refreshing a young adult romance could be, and I love the relationship between Nina, Ian, and Ryan. It’s so relatable and genuine.

You know how some love triangles can feel forced or just plain ridiculous? Well, this one is different. It’s believable, fun, and honestly, the character dynamics are just on point. The lead character finds herself caught between two twins, and the way it all unfolds is like watching a perfectly choreographed dance.

I don’t want to give away too show more much of the plot, but I found myself rooting for all of the characters in this book. Everyone had a story that pulls at the heart.

What I really appreciated about this book was the balance it struck with Nina’s family drama. It had just the right amount to keep things interesting and engaging. I was all in on the storyline and the characters are all extremely likeable.

Overall, reading this book was fun! It was lighthearted, and just what I needed to escape for a while. If you’re looking for a charming romance that’s filled with relatable characters and sweet moments, I highly recommend picking this one up. You won’t regret it!

Thank you to Ms. Nguyen for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Taylor, a good girl, nicknamed the Ice Queen by her classmates, wakes up in Evan's bed, not remembering how she got there. Evan, an admitted player, isn't too worried, but Taylor freaks out. This sounds like an opening to one of the many rape books books I've read this year; but nothing happened, really! Instead this is a super cute YA romance, clean, funny, with just a little bit of angst.
My name is Genesis and my addiction is fake-relationship stories. Whew, I got that out of the way. In all seriousness, I’m a sucker for these type of romances. They can be so much fun and The Way to Game the Walk of Shame certainly didn’t disappoint and lived up to my expectations. I remember telling my boyfriend I had gotten this book for review and his question was, “Are you sure that’s a YA novel?” Indeed, it is and don’t worry, it’s not steamy or deviates from the Young show more Adult genre.

Let’s dive into the story and the point of this review, shall we? Taylor has always been the quiet girl in high school that could be called a goody-two shoes. Her reputation takes a turn for the worst when rumors (that are true) spread that she spent the night with the player of the school, Evan. Taylor is so frustrated by this because she starts getting vocally bullied and this doesn’t sit right with her at all. She comes up with the brilliant plan to be in a fake relationship with Evan and that way, people will stop calling her names since it’s okay for a girlfriend to stay over at her boyfriend’s house (in this generation, apparently).

Taylor and Evan are so cute! The romance in the story wasn’t overdone and it was set at a slow yet fun pace. Everything about them was sweet, meaning no drama that sometimes comes with being a man-whore. I think many books nowadays give an excuse to why a guy sleeps around so much, but not here. Let the guy be a guy and that’s it! No need to add something so dark to it. The author did a great job in portraying this, as well as adding a little bit of depth to Evan’s character. I have to mention the secondary characters for sure. Carly, Taylor’s best friend, and Aaron, Evan’s best friend, were a fantastic addition to the primary character’s lives and the story itself. If the story was funny before, it got even better with these characters. Also, this book has little quirks that add to the depth and personality of the story-line and characters.

My reading experience with this book was so much fun! I was grinning like the Cheshire cat from beginning to end. It was light, quirky, witty, funny, quick-read, and a great way to start off the Summer vacation. If that didn’t give you the hint, then here it is: read this book during the summer so go buy it as soon as it comes out 😀
