This is a good book that is simply not meant for me. It is a collection of poetry and prose pieces that pay homage to Whitman's work. They are arranged chronologically and are international in scope, so they provide an excellent view of how Whitman was perceived by different generations and different schools of writers.

Unfortunately, Whitman wrote long poetry that doesn't really grab me, so I've always had trouble reading him. The homages are written in a similar vain. I'm going to pass show more this one to someone who hopefully will appreciate it more. show less
