Pacey but silly WIP film from The Asylum that sees Anna (Sara Malakul Lane) being sentenced to a juvenile detention centre after accidentally killing her sexually abusive stepfather. Inside Anna encounters violence, racial segregation, gang wars, mental illness, a predatory warden (Steve Hanks), hard drugs and lesbianism. She has a crack at each of them before redemption and achieving parole. Writer / director Jared Cohn attempts to emulate the tropes of classic WIP movies but tries to show more squeeze too much into the narrative making the film artifical and cartoonish. The shot-on-video look, the amateurish acting, the unrealistic violence and the plastic lesbianism give the film an improbable edge that is a mile away from the sleazy grubbiness of the classic WIP film. On the up side Sara Malakul Lane is great in the lead role; she gives a reasonable performance, has a great look and is keen to display her spectacular (if obviously enhanced) breasts at any opportunity. show less

2026 movie #71. Sequel to "Super Volcano". The same crew of enviros and rescue workers turn up in CA just in time. I only watched to the end because I thought the whole cast was gonna perish but they pulled a solution out of their butt, bombs on the fault lines! Boring and dumb. The same crew shows up in the next movie in the series Ice Storm". I may pass on that.
