Like so many showbiz autobiographies, this seemed to focus on the early years and struggle at the expense of the later ones. Mamma Mia was mentioned, for example, but only in passing. This does stop massive luvviedom, but I'd have liked to know more about this, her own family etc. Other than that a good and straightforward, honest-sounding read, lots of pictures and lots of nice Birmingham background too. show more Better than the biography of her I read a while ago. show less

This one has gone on hold for a while. It is an interesting read, with the humour you would expect from Julie. However, I feel I've been spoilt by Dawn French's autobiography, which was so well written, funny *and* touching, that all others are going to struggle.
The other thing I found about this book was that Julie does go off on tangents, and also changes subject quite abruptly. It's actually a reflection of a natural way of telling your life stories, but in a book format, it doesn't work show more so well. show less

I enjoyed the first part of this but it was a little disappointing and not particularly well written. I gave up about half way through as I wasn't interested enough to carry on reading.
