The book is essentially a summary of some recent and pertinent movements in human-computer interaction (HCI): from usability and task efficiency to experience; from experimental evaluation to empathy and dialogue; acknowledging the social and multivalent nature of technology in use. For interaction design, this may all seem like common sense. But the book is still useful in the sense that it provides valuable insights into the academic field of HCI -- which, like it or not, has considerable show more influence on interaction design research. show less
