Chin is a young boy who is sent off to sell the family's water buffalo. He has been told a story about an old man who lives at the top of a mountain with a dragon and he longs to see the dragon for himself. As he goes on his way to sell the buffalo, he sees the mountain and decides to climb up and try and find the dragon. A charming story which feels very traditional (the book does not say if this is its basis or not). The illustrations are lovely and will appeal to children. I think it is show more particularly appropriate for 7 year-olds. show less
When discussing the ideas about chance in the classroom or wonderful fiction examples of life cycles this would be a tremendous addition to any curriculum. This is beautifully illustrated and very creative.
