B. R. Maycock

The characters really make this story, and while I wouldn't say I was in love with everyone (I did not in fact like Louise's character and from what I understand, she's mostly a touch point in the first story versus heavily explored...and I failed to even finally come to terms with her and her actions in the end.), there are certainly many points in its favor (I actually was rather fond of Bex. While she could be trying at times and certainly lacked in the self-confidence department now and show more again, it wasn't anything that anyone else has been through, and survived at some point in their lives.) that made it an enjoyable read after all. Just focus on Bex...or have an extraordinarily open heart and mind to handle Louise!
