So, the first thing I discovered when writing the review of this book is that the phrase "photographing men" brings up a bunch of... interestingly unrelated books. :-)

To the actual content of this book though! This was a brief discussion of some of the concerns around taking portrait photos of men. As the author notes, there are many resources about photographing women, but for men, the standard set of options leaves less room for creativity. Like many resources on photography, the posing, show more lighting, and planning techniques themselves are not particularly groundbreaking, but it's useful to be able to study the examples and see how they are applied.

Overall, a useful read, and I look forward to trying some (slightly) more formal portrait photography with my favorite subject: my husband. show less

Overall, I think that this is a very good book. It is not 'deep', but then I don't think that we need 'deep'!

First of all, I am happy that there is a book on photographing men. There is a lot of emphasis on photographing women, and there is not enough on the subject of men

I like that he starts by talking about how to dodge and burn men's portraits depending on the face type. This is very good indeed.

Second, I like that he shows the way to light and pose men of different body types. The show more inclusion of lighting diagrams, and photographs is excellent.

There is enough material here to refer back to in times of need.
