When I first saw this book, I wondered why I had not heard of him. It is a shame I found his music online and enjoyed listening. The book explains that Rory Gallagher never made the top charts and that he was from Ireland.
His passion for guitars began by watching Gene Autry and Roy Rogers movies. He moved on to Rock N' Roll, and later the Blues became his favorite genre. He evolved through time by selecting guitars and modifying them so that they would fit the music he was singing and show more playing
This book makes you aware of his passion for guitars. He explored and collected guitars of many types. You learn about the evolution of guitars to fit different kinds of music.I was impressed that Rory Gallagher had a large collection of guitars, from the traditional to sometimes weird ones. I year to hear how the 1968 Coral Sitar sounds, it was an electric guitar modified to make sitar sounds. Another guitar was modified to raise the volume. He played a 1942 Martin Style A.I would haveloved to hear him play that instrument.
This book of Rory Gallagher's guitar collection has outstanding photography, photos of him playing the different guitars, and many close-ups of parts of the finish and parts of the guitars. The photo of the 1963 Gretsch 6135 Corvette is stunning. I stayed on that page for along time, it is a true work of art.
The guitar collection is amazing, and I appreciated learning the musician scoured pawn shops and bargained. If he decided that it was too expensive, he did not buy it.
This book is perfection and is one to treasure. show less
