A good basic guide by a trusted name in personal finance, Jane Bryant Quinn. She dispels a lot of the uncertainty, fluff, and down right fraud we all encounter in tackling this demanding task.
Those that follow the basic simplicity laid out her by Quinn should be ahead of most who don't have a clue, and are easily plucked by the brokerages and their army of sales mercenaries.

Making the most of your money : smart ways to create wealth and plan your finances in the '90s by Jane Bryant Quinn
It is interesting reading a book like this when you are almost 75. Most of the suggestions in the book do not apply because you have already accomplished them. I could have done well to have taken the premarital checklist....would have sa ved me a lot of grief. Postmarital ? Did not do this either. New baby checklist ? I did not plan, just took things as they came. I took on the day-care checklist at age 22 and worked through these issues.in what turned out to be good solutions for me at the show more time.
What the book is good for now is my grandchildren and even greatgrandchild. It is not outdated, old as it is. show less
