The author wrote this on a drunk, I suppose. Else, it would be coherent. Though set in 2041, there are some super weapons that come straight out of nowhere at just the right time. Author doesn't understand how the chain of command works; clearly FUBARs the tactical situations using journalist words and not military jargon. The latter makes the book loose it's military flavor and enter right into Hollywood. There are also little political asides, like the Freedom party, a congressional show more conversation about term limits and an aircraft carrier named Donald Trump. This book caps what could have been an interesting series with just, plain drivel. show less
Prelude to World War III: The Rise of the Islamic Republic and the Rebirth of America (World War III Series) by James Rosone
I enjoyed the book. As the title suggests, the premise is quite disturbing, however the book worked and is pretty good. It only works for the good guys if we assume that POTUS will react as he does in the book. I suspect that not all will do so. There are some far right assumptions. This book just kinda ends and the next one takes off. I suspect that the editors like to sell more books that way. Not fine literature, but a thought provoking read.
This book, like the first two held my interest from the first word to the last. Abbreviations and jargon abound. Advanced weapons add incredulity to the scenario. The scenario is a good guess and who knows? Maybe? The shoot-em-up-bang-bang gets pretty redundant and most of the characters are expendable. That said, on to book #4.
This second novel of a four-book series is just as compulsively readable as the first. There are really, no characters, so relating to them is not possible. The scenario is pretty cool and is driven by events that could happen. There were errors that stood out to the accomplished reader. And, the US always takes a bloody nose first, then comes back for the win.
