I waited until the end of the series to write my review. I really liked the ideas put forth in this series. It suffers from the usual problems of proofreading and editing. There are times that who is speaking got so mixed up that I had to re-read most of a chapter. As with most of this genre, it appears the author has little knowledge of anal intercourse and uses the genre to substitute the functioning of a vagina for an anus. I'm sure that makes it easier for some authors, but it definitely show more is not the gay male bottom's experience and can pull me out of the story/scene. There is a nod to a human bottom's experience in this series at least (before the aliens change them), and that makes me happier that I would be otherwise. show less
Cassian and Diego are both omegas even though Cassian is now pretending to be an Alpha. He and Diego have escaped from a forced breeding facility and they are trying to get somewhere safe. It's safer for traveling if one of them looks like an Alpha. When the train they are on gets ambushed by rot-jobs, they end up having to walk to try and get somewhere safe. They get ambushed by the bad guy, kill him, and take his dog. They jump another train and end up in Pensacola. That's when there is a show more drawing to see who will mate them.

Harper is an alpha with a sad history. When he sees Cassian's picture on a flyer, he's drawn to him, so he puts his name in the drawing to see if he's chosen to be one of the mates.

I like the way that the story works, mostly. There are a few places where it's hard to tell which voice the narrator is speaking in, and there were a few places where the flow seemed off, but it was a good story, overall.

Interesting universe

This is an interesting take on the Omegaverse and mpreg genre. I liked how the author set up the society.
Really kind of a sad story about represed gay men sneaking around south of the border.
