I went in intrigued, I was initially not necessarily feeling the art and the tone, but a couple of pages into the first issue I was hooked and the vibes were immaculate. This is what if Tia and Tamara from Sister Sister were Emily Strange and Sabrina the Teenage Witch with a little Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Cate and Kate are in the business of dealing with supernatural fuckery, specialising in reclaiming lost souls from The Pit and giving a demon or two a kicking for good measure. Their mum show more sold their soul when they were kids (family, amirite?!) or rather Cate's soul that took on a rebellious life of its own, Kate.
That's the premise. The style is classic comic in the tradition of Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Sabrina with a modern twist, which suits the irreverent and infectiously fun tone perfectly. They pop in and out of hell (and demon orifices [orifi?]), angels rain from the sky, shadows are going to wipe out all life. All standard fare for the teen spoopy storytime, but there's just something special and fun about the Exorsisters style.
This really is a testament to crafting something new and fun from familar parts. I absolutely need to read more! show less

I enjoyed Gisèle Lagacé's artwork in some other books I read recently, so I checked this out from the library to see some more of her work. And it is good.
Unfortunately, while the story starts strong introducing a couple of young women who are demon fighters -- one is reserved and one is a loose cannon -- Ian Boothby's script is awkward, jumping around, using a lot of flashbacks, and not quite finding the right balance of drama and humor.
My library doesn't have the second volume yet, but show more if it turns up I'll check it out. If it doesn't, well, I won't feel like I'm missing out.
FOR REFERENCE:
Contains material originally published in single magazine form as Exorsisters #1-5.
Contents: Chapters 1-5 / Ian Boothby, writer, Gisèle Lagacé, illustrator -- Cover Gallery / Pia Guerra, Kari, David Lafuente, Dan Parent, Fernando Ruiz and Anwar Hanano, Ty Templeton, Moritat, illustrators show less

One of the funnier web comics that I've read, Ménage à 3 follows the adventures of Gary and his two roommates, Zii and Didi, as they navigate life in Montreal. Basically, think Three's Company, but with way more sex (of every variety - everyone seems to have sex with everyone else at some point). Definitely written for a mature audience, there are several laugh out loud moments in this collection, printing the first year of the online comic.
This spin-off from the Ménage à 3 series is a fun and silly sex comedy. It even cites Three's Company as it has two supporting characters from the main series, Dillon O'Brien and Amber LaRose, become roommates, only to have Amber's unemployed sister Ruby immediately crashing in to become their third.
Amber sort of fades into the background as the series is mostly about Dillon's love life and Ruby's realization from watching his string of sexual partners that she is totally a fujoshi, a show more straight woman turned on by watching gay men interact. The humor is crass and raunchy, with Ruby exhibiting self-loathing and homophobia as she cycles through denial, bargaining, and acceptance.
The Canadian cast, while mostly white, is LGBTQIA+ diverse, with gay, lesbian, bisexual, genderfluid, intersex, and asexual folks popping in . . . and often putting out.
Having enjoyed this and the Sandra on the Rocks spin-offs, I should really try the main Ménage à 3 sometime soon.
