If you are studying Chinese, this is THE book to have on Chinese Proverbs, it is absolutely brilliant. It gives the proverbs in chinese characters (simplified) and in Pinying, a literal translation and the equivalent English proverb/saying if there is one.
This is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in idiomatic Chinese expressions. Includes thousands of "folk similes" with literal translations and explanations of figurative language.
