Taken by His Best Friend stars Ryan captain of the football team, and Skyler who’s been in love with Ryan forever.
I’ve read many books by this author. Since they are Yaoi, there’s always a level of coercion and hot sex. It’s the ‘Yes, yes! No, no!’ dichotomy. Dub-con to the max. Well, this story went too far for me. I made it through about seventy-five percent of the book until Ryan overheard Skyler’s desires. From that point Ryan pushes and pushes Skyler to give in. It’s show more clear Skyler is scared, not sure he wants to, and is afraid if he doesn’t he’ll get hurt. This for me, is where Ryan moves into being a rapist, even when he asks Skyler at the very last second, if it’s okay. Seriously, if Skyler is scared, is he going to say no? Because it was clear Ryan was not going to take no for an answer. Before they did the deed, I closed the book. I thought I’d pick it up again at a later point, but the revulsion I feel for what was happening in the story keeps me from picking it up again. I just can’t do it. Some people will likely say, “It’s Yaoi, what did you expect?” I read Yaoi, I like it. But not this kind of Yaoi. So, this is a DNF for me and I give this book, 1 Star. Yes, I feel I can rate it one star because I made it seventy-five percent of the way through. And I’m not even reviewing the grammar errors. show less

Handsome: A Yaoi Romance is a short story about genius inventor, Dr. Tokawa and his sweet assistant Mariku.
I’m reading all the Amelita Rae books bit by bit. What I like about them is that they are short and they are all different from the other. Some are PWP, but this story isn’t. Dr. Tokawa is a genius and found it difficult to find trustworthy assistants. All they wanted to do was steal his discoveries for themselves. He hires Mariku, and Mariku is perfect in many ways. Oh, except for show more being very clumsy and only attracted to big, muscled men and Tokawa is anything but big and muscled. He’s the typical nerd/geek. This is a story about how Tokawa goes about solving the problem of getting Mariku’s attention.
The complaint I have about this story again as I did with the previous stories, is the strange changes in povs. The writing didn’t seem as bad in this book as in the others, maybe I’m just getting used to the oddness, but it’s still there. In addition, the author still uses many descriptors for the characters, like ‘the blond boy, etc.’ Another thing is that the dominant male, always and I mean always, has 'gold' eyes. There's almost no variety what-so-ever in the physical descriptions of the characters from book to book.
There’s more of a plot line in this book with some sexy times. It’s a cute fun read, more my preference than the ones that are all PWP and non-con. I give Handsome: A Yaoi Romance, 3 Stars. I can’t give it more because the author hasn’t corrected the issues that are prevalent in every book she’s written.

Teaching the Twink is the story of Cody, his brother Mike, and Mike’s best friend, Jared.
First, I have to mention I like Yaoi. But, I have limits.
Cody adores his older brother Mike. Whatever Mike does or wants Cody does and wants it too. So, when Mike says he’s gay, Cody does too. When Mike moves away to college, Cody follows him. Mike gets him a job at the gay bar where he works, but tells Cody to tell everyone that he only tops. This is to make sure no one lays a hand on Cody. show more Everyone laughs because Cody is the twinkyist twink anyone has ever seen. Moreover, it doesn’t stop everyone, especially Jared.
The writer portrays Jared as a predator, and Mike calls him ‘Wily Fox’. It’s worse when Cody is referred to as a plump chicken. Cody is extremely naïve even though he’s eighteen. He actually sounds like a boy throughout the story, which makes what happens uber creepy. Jared convinces Cody to have sex, but Cody is willing. It starts with Jared agreeing with Cody that the person on top is the top, even though that’s not the actual meaning. Jared conveys that he has wanted Cody ever since Mike talked about him, so it’s clear Jared is interested Cody, but he starts the relationship with a lie.
Cody acts childish throughout the book, he’s more like a six-year-old, and at one point the author writes that the two compare penis sizes and Cody’s is like a boy’s and Jared’s a man’s. Ewwww, gross. Cody's naivete isn't cute, it's set up to substitute as a child. That just indicates to me that this story was aimed more towards pedophilia than the other Yaoi books by this author.
One thought that crossed my mind is Jared desires Cody because he's young and innocent, like pedophiles like them young. As Cody grows older, will Jared still be interested in him or toss him aside? The kind of person Jared seems to be, 'a shark' as one of the bouncers called him, tells me, once Cody looses his cuteness, Jared will be on to the next young thing. Poor Cody.
The pov switched erratically throughout the story, for a short time it’s Cody’s, then Mike’s, then Jared’s and then the narrator’s interjecting their thoughts. It was confusing and unpleasant.
The random pov changes, and because of the squick factor of the personalities of Cody and Jared, I have to give this book 2 Stars. It just crossed a line for me.

The Good Doctor is a medical kink Yaoi short story. It stars Tanashi Akimitsu aka Mitsu, an extremely naïve eighteen-year-old, and Dr. Asaka. Behind the spoiler tag are spoilers. Don’t look if you don’t want to know the plot and my thoughts.
I have to say straight away, this is total PWP and kinky as all get out. If you’re into medical kink this is for you, also if you’re into dubcon. The dubcon veered off into serious creepiness when the last chapter was revealed and we hear Dr. show more Asaka’s thoughts. Mitsu is extremely naïve, so naïve he’s emotionally a child. With these character names, I’m guessing this is set in Japan, and there’s no way Mitsu couldn’t have been exposed to the topic of sex or images of sex in Japan, especially if he had eight siblings. He had to have heard his parents doing it more often than not.
Getting back to the plot, if you can toss out reality about Mitsu’s total lack of understanding about sex at eighteen you might like this. There’s a lot of ass play and pain during the exam. The pain part bothered me a lot, especially when Asaka pushed Mitsu, not caring when Mitsu begged him to stop. Asaka sees Mitsu as a possession rather than a person.
For me, the last chapter completely weirded me out. We find out that Asaka is a stalker who plans to groom Mitsu so that Mitsu only responds sexually to him. Forever and ever. That to me is a predator. If something like this happened in real life, what if Asaka died after he’d gotten Mitsu to depend on him for his sexual enjoyment? For the rest of Mitsu’s life he’d never enjoy sex or find anyone to love again. The idea is abhorrent. This is my personal opinion and other readers may find this ‘relationship’ okay.
Now to the writing. It was odd. I think it was supposed to be third person, but then while in Mitsu’s thoughts, the writing frequently would jump to him thinking something like ‘The boy lay down on the table.’ Like some outside narrator was telling what was occurring. This happened quite frequently and tore me out of the story quite often.
This particular story isn’t for me. The creepiness of the doctor, the unrealistic innocence of Mitsu bordered on a child. He definitely didn’t come across as an adult. I’m okay with reading medical kink, but the characters did not work for me and the grammar errors were terrible. I can only give The Good Doctor two stars. I have a few other books by this author and I’m hoping the writing will improve in them.
