Being a scholarly analysis of 1970's sportscasting icon Howard Cosell. Although the book is not a biography nor even a life-and-times description, it contains elements of both. One reason for this may be that, despite Cosell's prominence and undoubted influence on the way sports is presented through broadcasting, most of his importance is somewhat self-evident. That said, this is a very interesting book with more biographical detail than has been available heretofore in Cosell's unsystematic show more books and a few other scattered sources
and his interpretations are also interesting. Most readers, though, would be more interested in a straight biography, and one is coming out soon. show less
