I had a hard time making it through the book. It reads like an old-fashioned Harlequin story with a young girl and an older man. She acts dumb and pursues him relentlessly and he pushes her away even though he wants her. Fine in the 1980's but unlikable characters in 2025. The sex is slightly on the raunchy side but there's not much of it. I just couldn't bring myself to care if they got an HEA or not.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are show more completely my own. show less
First of all, almost no one was bossed. There was a boss, and yes, he was a single dad, but he was actually quite nice. I was looking for bossy and I got emotionally stable and sympathetic. Also, the plus-sized heroine works out and looses weight, which makes her more beautiful and able to wear pretty dresses. And there was barely any sex, until the very end. So yeah.
An innocent virgin gets a job in a sex shop, only to run into her dad’s BFF and neighbor, the hot cop, when she accidentally sets off the store alarm. Now the sparks are flying, but in a kind of ho-hum manner. Madison is competent but neither serious enough or campy enough to win me over.
When her boss Adam calls her and says “come to my cabin in the woods with those files,” Kayla has to dump all her plans and possibly risk missing Christmas just to appease him. Then a snowstorm hits, forcing Kayla to stay! But maybe Adam planned the whole thing? (Spoiler alert: he did). I just didn’t think Adam’s white lie to get Kayla to come to the cabin was that big of a deal. But the novella really stretched it out.
