Enjoyed this first book in the series, it had a good mix of in game exploring/fighting/building with just enough time IRL to give a more grounded feel to the whole book. The only problem I have with it isas a roguelike fan I prefer permadeath it just makes the novel more exciting for me. Now that may be something that the series still has coming, as I assume Devon will get trapped in game sometime and with her feeling pain, I wonder if that will kill her IRL.

I think this was the best one yet.
It's a rather unique LitRPG in how it can maintain high stakes without needing to delve into having "real" game universes, permanent mind transfers, or mustache-twirling villains.
Can't wait to read #4.

Seldom that the second installment of a book is better than the first. but the ongoing story, the added player characters and the real life background story make this even better than the first one.
Title is a bit misleading considering how late the Citadel shows up.
Also there are some minor continuity errors (it was Tamara's idea to try VR in book 3, not Devon's).
Besides that it's still going pretty well. I just hope we get to see Ezraxis again somehow, given that she's been along for the ride this long.
