Fay Parker accepts Mark Hawkins's marriage proposal because she has a nagging worry she may otherwise never get married. They plan a lavish wedding at a chateau in the south of France, and Fay keeps trying to persuade herself she's wildly happy. When Mark invites two of his ex-girlfriends to the wedding, Fay, in the spirit of fun and fairness, decides to invite two of her ex-boyfriends. Then another guest of the groom shows up who proves to be a real shock to the bride. The path to the altar show more is really getting rocky.
I enjoyed the snarkiness of The Ex Files, since I don't like the sweet type of chick lit with the oh-so-adorable heroine. None of the characters here is entirely sympathetic. They all act rotten at some point or another. I did get a bit irritated at the flashbacks which showcase Mark and his best friend Brian's adolescent sexual exploits, which can't be interesting to anyone but a teenage boy. Still, this was an entertaining book. I hadn't read anything by Jane Moore before, but I noticed the thrift shop where I found The Ex Files also had Fourplay, her first novel, so I may pick that up too if they still have it. show less

If you are going to read chick lit make it a book by a British author. This is a fun book that was like a how to for how not to pick a partner to marry and how to definitely not plan the the wedding. Yes it was predictable, but it was entertaining.
