The ABC's and All Their Tricks: The Complete Reference Book of Phonics and Spelling by Margaret M. Bishop
A must have book! Now when I give my kids spelling lists, I can also give them the reasons why things are spelled the way they are.
It has become an indispensable part of our spelling program.

I have used this book over and over again while teaching my children to read and to spell. Each vowel sound and all spellings of that sound are covered in this book. Each consonant and all blends are also covered.
The best thing is that it also tells you how many times that particular spelling occurs in the English language. So, your child can guess at the correct spelling due to the frequency of use. Her lists are exhaustive.
Highly recommended teacher's resource!

Who would of thought that there was a book on this topic?! Excellent book explaining the phonetic system of English language. Used it while homeschooling our kids from K to 12. Wonderful reference.
This handy little book focuses on phonetic families and group words together according to those families. I use it to guide spelling instruction for my elementary students.
