Is Hugh Riminton the brother I never met? Like me, he started in radio. He's been to most of the places I've been to, and seen most of the same things. He's even been blessed, like me, to have been occasionally accompanied by Steve Levitt. And he even lived for a time in Hong Kong. For most of the time Hugh was reporting on the state of the world, I was working with World Vision. So this wonderful book is personally special. Our paths must have crossed a score of times. How remarkable that show more we never met.
This is one of the best books written about war, poverty, politics and humanity. Hugh is tender, self-deprecatingly honest, and deeply insightful. He is an engaging raconteur, and a profound analyst. The book is alternately thrilling and moving, gutsy and authentic. It deserves to be popular. show less
