In this book, Bart Ehrman student Jason Combs deems it highly significant that "the Doctrine and Covenants never speaks explicitly of a restored church". It is not apparent that Combs considers it likewise significant that Prophets and Apostles have (approvingly) used the phrase "restored Church" 364 times in General Conference, or that in 2020 The First Presidency and the Quorum of Twelve Apostles issued a "Proclamation to the World" that declared that "following the death of the original show more Apostles, Christ's New Testament Church was lost from the earth" and that heavenly messengers instructed Joseph Smith to "re-establish the Church of Jesus Christ" and that "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . . . is Christ's New Testament Church restored". show less
