An excellent book by one of the most respected voices within the field of career coaching. It takes a slightly different approach from the average book about interviews in that it looks at the reasons you may not have put previous advice into practice and helps you transform your performance. The book gives an insider perspective on what interviewers want, highlights the importance of ‘story’ in your interview and challenges you to look at the small but significant changes you need to show more make to improve your impact at interview. It includes useful chapters on how interviews with recruitment consultants are different, handling interview nerves, shining in competency-based interviews and a helpful and reassuring one entitled ‘ My interview is tomorrow!’ which highlights the key sections of the book and boils Lees’ message down to the basics. This book is shelved in the Red section under ‘Interviews’. show less
Excellent book about how to compose excellent CVs. Examines how to get messages across and how employers react to CVs. Main section of book looks at which format of CVs to use, how to write a great profile. Final section of book covers how to use CV in effective job searches on and offline and how to approach speculative letters.
This book contains much of relevance to the recent graduate (as well as those with longer career histories). It's divided into subsections such as "personality" and "competency". Various potential interview questions are examined, followed by suggested ways of approaching them and possible pitfalls to avoid. More general information on creating a positive impression and making a strong exit is also useful.

Available in the red 'applying for work' section in CO Info Centre and as an e-book via show more the University of Edinburgh library catalogue. show less
Not too wordy, lots of bullet points, motivational. It's aimed at people whose careers have had a set-back (and one chapter is titled Getting Past The Age Barrier) rather than students/recent graduates but the practical advice is sound. CO & KB and available as an e-book via the University of Edinburgh library catalogue.
