The Tale of a Mighty Tail (Clifford the Big Red Dog: Phonics Fun Reading Program Pack 6, Book 9) by Jenny Markas
This book sidesteps the battle all readers want to see: Clifford vs. a whale. Who would win? I want to say Clifford if they stay near shore where he can maximize leverage for his jaws and claws, but if the whale plays a strategic game and gets Clifford far from Birdwell Island then it's game over for the big red dog. Or wait, what if the whale is an orca? Clifford the big red smear!
Alexander is trying his hardest to be on his best behavior. which is hard for anyone. This story shows how hard it can be to resist the urge to break rules, spill spaghetti on your brothers, and play games even if you don't win them. I love this book because it is so helpful to use with children who struggle with ADHD. It presents the challenges of trying your hardest to be the best boy ever.
Alexander eats a whole box of jelly doughnuts and hates the consequences. Realistic in capturing how kids think but lacks the charm and warmth of the original Alexander story.
How hard it is to be a good boy al week, especially when donuts are involved. Silly Good for really young kids.
