Andrew James (A.J.) Jacobs, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at East Carolina University. He has published six books and 40 scholarly articles and chapters on the automotive industry and urban and regional development issues in North America, Europe, and East Asia. He has served as a Fellow at Vrije Universiteit Brussel's Centre for Urban Studies in Belgium, a Visiting Professor and Fellow with Hosei University's Faculty of Business in Tokyo, Japan, an Assistant Professor in the University of Cincinnati's School of Planning, and a Visiting Assistant Professor in Michigan State University's Urban Planning Program. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology–Urban Studies from Michigan State University and his Master's in Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. - Places of residence
