4050 The 1910s, by David Blanke (read 30 July 2005) This is the first volume of a projected series on "American Culture Through Popular History". It tells what went on in advertising, architecture, fashion, food, leisure activities, literature, music, performing arts, travel, and visual arts during the years from 1910 thru 1919. So, depending on one's interest, some chapters will be more interesting than others. But the book is full of interesting tidbits, such as telling of Diamond Jim show more Brady's typical breakfast: several quarts of orange juice, eggs, a half loaf of bread, steak, fried potatoes, onions, grits, bacon, muffins, coffee and a stack of pancakes. When he died in 1917 an autopsy showed his stomach was six times the normal size! show less
