A concise history of various types of Dress reform movements, primarily as they effected Britain from the Mid 19th to the Early 20th Centuries. As the title suggests, the three main movements in this era, were the Artistic Dress movement of the PreRafaelite "Brotherhood", the Rational Dress movement, primarily promoted by Feminist groups and Socialist groups, and the Sanitary/Hygenic dress movement which included doctors, and Victorian health nuts, as well as the aforementioned Socialists show more and Feminists. Newton shows how these disparate reform movements overlapped and came together near the end of the Victorian Era and eventually were absorbed into 20th Century fashion. show less
