About the Author

Sam Cornish was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 22, 1935. He was educated at Goddard College and Northwestern University. He was a poet and taught literature and creative writing at Emerson College. He was Boston's first poet laureate from 2008 to 2014. He was the author of several show more collections of poetry including Dead Beats, An Apron Full of Beans: New and Selected Poems, Songs of Jubilee: New and Selected Poems 1969-1983, and Generations. He wrote the children's books Your Hand in Mine and Grandmother's Pictures. He died of complications from a stroke on August 20, 2018 at the age of 82. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
