Eric Glocker's The Price of Eternity is the author's debut anthology of science fiction and fantasy short stories. Glocker shows great promise as the stories immerse the reader in unique situations with interesting characters and some good twists along the way. There were, however, some distracting style issues. The narration shifts from past tense to present tense and back again. And there are are some long and unwieldy sentences that contain multiple thoughts or actions; these are best show more divided into separate sentences for improved flow and clarity. But overall this is a fine first effort, and some honing of technical skills should yield even better results going forward. show less

The book, The Price of Eternity, contains six stories. The stories are supposed to run the gamut of sci-fi, fantasy and urban fantasy. I felt they were more urban fantasy oriented. While some of the backdrops were science fiction, they still felt like people dealing with fantastical elements.

All in all, these stories are very readable. The characters are interesting. The situations are compelling. I did have a bit of trouble with some of the character's speech and thoughts. They were a bit show more too realistic. I know that my seem to be an odd criticism, but when I, as the reader, is pushed into a situation with the characters, it really helps if I can follow what's going on. Occasionally, and just occasionally, the characters in these stories will say or think things that I didn't understand. Usually because I lacked the appropriate background.

Still, an excellent debut anthology and well worth a read.

This book was an amazing read. It is a collection of short stories in the genre of fantasy and sci-fi that keeps the reader on edge and flipping papers of the different twists and suprises that each story contains. Eric writes in a fashion that puts the reader in the stories. I could not put the book down and read it in 3 days. Bravo Eric. Would love to continue to read more of your collections

Fantasy, sci-fi, military. A lot of the f-word. I don' feel that the cover art work reflects what's inside. I received it through LT for my honest review. I will pass it along to someone that might enjoy it more than me.
