Better than average, but gets repetitive
I have a sharp mind for plot, so many novels trip my stupid meter and I won't continue. These are a bit better than average on that score, but after the first five of eight stories I just shelved this set, as the overall storyline got repetitive. I.e. stupid arrogant dark mages come after Brownstone, Brownstone "I'm gonna kick your ass", Brownstone easily kicks ass, rinse and repeat...

Wary is her love is the 3rd book in Alison's The School of Necessary Magic series. I've noticed a pattern with the titles, all of them have is her. This one, I could get due to Alison trying to find a new family, but it's not really touched upon.
The humorous aspects of these books may be criticised as cheesy but I for one can occasionally crack a smile or chuckle at the scene. These books are short with humour, they're not amazing literature but they pass time and can be entertaining. show more They're short so you can binge read the series.
The book focuses on more fun than danger, Izzie tries out for the school play, Alison talks about singing and Luke and Ethan end up going for Louper. Virtual Reality amazes me and I really want a headset so of course, I thought this would be good. Louper just takes up so many pages and for a book less than 300 pages, it's wasting time.
The dodgeball game, while some could call it a waste of time, was fun to read about and also showed a new talent of Izzie's when she breaks the school record. Louper however does not push forward any character development.
I have to give the book points for the cover which is so pretty, I believe it's Alison on the cover.
Overall, it was a mediocre book. show less

It's like part of this series has gone back full circle because once again, Mr D needs Alison's help and its to do with his nephew. Alison totally kills it in this book and this doesn't drag like the others because while all were action-packed, the writing was chunky. This one was smooth and did not slow the plot down any time soon. The thing that annoys me is that Alison is always so preachy about surrendering and every time she mentions killing someone, she always talks about how she show more offered them a chance. I also still hate Mason, he is a total waste of time.
Things are getting tense with the drow, the next book is the final book and I think it will be epic show less

Now that I've had more experience with YA and Middle-Grade books, I notice a few more things.
First of all, in author notes of other books (I sometimes read the author notes, depends) They call this series a YA series. However, I feel like this book tries so hard to be YA and it just isn't really, to me, it feels like a middle grade. At times, the book acts like a YA novel, other times like a middle grade.
It was short and light, with some errors but didn't really take away from the book.
One show more of the characters is blind yet sometimes, she describes visual features like what?
The cast of characters is ultimately enjoyable, well the majority of them.
While this was enjoyable, at times it was hard to follow, the transition between the two girls came off sometimes as very abrupt and choppy. AT times, both POV's sounded the same and it was hard to differentiate. show less
