This was not for me. The writing didn't really flow as well as I would have liked it to, and the romance between Colton and Misty happens very quickly. I'm normally okay with insta-lust, but he's had like 2 conversations with her, and he's going to marry her? A little much for me. Misty's character was strange. She went to college, and had to drop out, but then seems like she doesn't understand how normal things work. Checking account, or handling money seem too hard for her. A 22 year old show more should know these things. I didn't realize that the suspense part was going to be such a big part of this book. It was better, in my opinion, than the romance. Although this was a first for me from this author, I would read her again.

Do or Die Cowboy by June Faver
Dark Horse Cowboy #1

Tyler “Ty” Garrett has a dream and nothing will stand between him and finding out whether or not he can make it as a country singer. He has his sights on being the next Country Idol winner and is on his way to Dallas to see a buddy to make that happen. Withy Lucky his dog in the truck cab beside him and Prince his stallion in the trailer behind him he has left the family ranch behind even though it has alienated his father. Pulling in for show more a meal he sees a woman and her daughter that seem to be running scared and then he sees them again and does the good Samaritan thing only to find that he is drawn to Leah and her daughter Gracie in a way that makes getting to Dallas sooner rather than later a whole lot more difficult.

Leah is on the run and has a truly evil man close behind her. When she gets to what she believes will be a safe haven she realizes that there is more than the one evil man to contend with. Leah has had a rough life but makes the best of situations she finds herself in and with a fierce mama love she will do just about anything to keep her daughter Gracie safe.

So…will Ty give up his dreams or head to Dallas? If he goes in pursuit of his dreams then who will keep Leah safe?

I enjoyed this story and since it is fiction and a way to escape kind of overlooked the believability factor. If you are looking for an escape with a handsome country singer being alpha for the woman he falls for rather quickly then this book might be for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC – This is my honest review.

When the hero learns that his sister and her husband were killed in a plane accident, he immediately makes sure that his nephew and niece are in his care. When he learns that the legal guardian of the two young children is the heroine, he has mixed feelings about it due to their first meeting. Yet as time passed by, the two fall in love and learn that there was more to their siblings's deaths. Interspersed within the story are the Garrett family and some situations arising show more during this time.

I enjoyed the Garrett family's closeness and how wonderful they are with the young children under their care. The book also has that small-town vibe that makes it charming and makes the heroine fall in love with the place. It also helps that certain townspeople became quite close to the heroine, who really needed them in her life. I do feel like the story needed more details for a smooth transition but that's my personal preference. This is a nice addition to this Juen Faver series and I look forward to more of the characters getting their happy endings.

This is just a typical romance. No surprises or unique situations. But, I did enjoy the banter between Reggie Lee and Frank. show more These two have very good chemistry and they just made this story so much more enjoyable.

Need a sweet story with great characters …THIS IS IT!
