Early Sawmill Towns of the Louisiana-Texas Borderlands by W. T. Block

Much of W.T. Block's information, culled mostly from old (local) newspaper articles, is unavailable elsewhere. This book is a good jumping off point for further research in early lumbering/sawmilling in Louisiana and Texas, but I wouldn't take Block as the final word.
