"Slowcoach" was an enjoyable feel-good read. One of the standouts for me was the strong representation and emphasis on body positivity.

The book delivered some really important and refreshing messages about self-acceptance, especially in environments that can often feel judgmental, like sports and school. On the flip side, the PE teacher was truly awful. I was so frustrated with his attitude and comments, and unfortunately he reminded me of how damaging those attitudes can be.

I really enjoyed show more the dynamic between Ruby and her supportive group of friends. Their encouragement and loyalty added warmth to the story and made Ruby’s journey feel more grounded and uplifting.

Ollie was also a highlight as Ruby’s coach - kind, patient, and genuinely supportive. However, while I liked him as a character, I didn’t feel any real chemistry between him and Ruby, which made the romantic aspect fall a bit flat for me.

Overall, this was an enjoyable and meaningful read with great themes, even if the romance didn’t fully land. Definitely worth picking up for its positive messages and relatable characters.
