Werewolves in space

But not really. Genetically modified beings who are mostly human most of the time. Super soldiers from a war against aliens that has long since ended. But that's not really the story.

This is about a young woman finally coming to terms with a life changing event. With a murder investigation that ends up having unusual results.

I liked it. I will buy the next book.

Minor quibble: this felt more like a prologue than book 1.
Often, by the sixth book in a series, I begin to lose interest as the stories often have a feel of sameness to them. That hasn’t happened for me with this series. There is enough growth and new aspects that this book easily held my interest.

This time PI and psychic Discordia Jones is called in by the police to help with nightly horrible murders and theft of magical items. Who or even what is the question and touching the bodies brings about a serious backlash on Cordi of what the victims show more experienced.

Besides the mystery and horror there are the various relationships with secondary characters, humor, the dogs, some new situations and her relationship with Logan moves forward. One new situation appears to carry forward into at least the next book as we have yet to discover a reason it was brought about as well as how it will change her life.

This story would be somewhat difficult to follow if you haven’t read the prior books.

I've been reading these stories back-to-back. I'm definitely hooked on the characters, situations and Cordi in particular. This psychic private investigator with a slew of known abilities, is still learning what else she can do. Not happy about it, she's forced to work for a master vampire to figure out who is killing off council members who support the newer rules to only feed from willing humans. Along the way she learns that some of what she'd believed isn't quite true and her circle of show more support just keeps getting bigger.

And this story has more personal angles than prior ones when it comes to her family and relationships. It's definitely got an emotional element to it. I was going to say that you've just got to love her parents, but then realized how many other characters I'd want to list along with that remark.

I'm truly enjoying the characters, situations and the world that was built and can't wait to see what happens next. A caring magically kick-butt heroine who keeps putting herself in danger to help others is the best reason to keep coming back. Witches, warlocks, and their familiars, demons, shifters, vampires, elves, gargoyles and demon fighting magical dogs also make the stories interesting.

When the melding of two realms took place years ago, it really caused chaos. A number of people fell asleep for a few hours up to a few months and woke up with abilities, and many of those people are now witches and warlocks. This version of the world also contains shifters, vampires, demons, elves and other types of fae. Discordia (Cordi) Jones was in a coma for three years—she doesn’t know of anyone else being asleep that long from the event—waking up with a slew of different psychic show more abilities; some of which she doesn’t she has yet to discover. Deciding to use them for good, she works for Arcane Solutions as a private investigator that often deals with the supernatural.

It’s easy to see elements from a number of different series, but this doesn’t come across as a copy of any of them. Cordi is a very likeable character who while kick-butt in her own way, it’s from the use of her abilities much more than her ability to physically fight, and she does get hurt often. Not quite as hardnosed stubborn when it comes down to backing away from a fight as some other heroines I’ve come across, she doesn’t easily give up. And she’s got plenty of interesting friends who are willing to help out.

In this particular story Cordi is contracted to find a couple’s missing teenage daughter as well as a very old book stolen from an elf.

I enjoyed this Urban Fantasy story so much that I immediately downloaded the second book in the series and have since read the third as well. I found this to be an enjoyable story with really good world and character building and interesting situations. The author does need some help with editing, though.
