Thank you Sharon J for recommending this series to me. This was an amazing read. Ella Summers is my new favourite artist. The story was amazing. There was action, suspense and plot twists. The characters were amazing as well. Leda Pierce, the main character, is badass. I really loved her attitude. She is snarky as hell and I love it. Her banter with Nero was a bonus in this book because I thought that they were really cute together. Nero is a Colonel and a member of the Legion of Angels. He show more is an angel, and also the trainer for the initiates joining the Legion including Leda. He is a bit of a mystery, but I love him more because of that. The ending had me on the edge of my seat. Why did it have to end with a cliffhanger? I wonder how book 2 will turn out. Witch’s Cauldron, here I come. Overall, an incredible read. show less
Serafina is Dragon Born; something that carries an automatic death sentence as the Magic Council has declared that these very powerful individuals are an abomination. So she and her twin sister, both working as mercenaries, have kept their magic hidden. But in order to save lives, she had to use a great deal of it and now she must be tested, as every other mage does, in the Magic Games where what she could be exposed and put her brother and sister at risk. To make matters more awkward she show more and Kai, a powerful dragon shifter who is on the Magic Council, are attracted to each other and he’s coaching her for her tests.
I find it cool that the twin sisters each have their own series and yet what takes place in each affects the other. You get plenty of action, sexual tension, a romance and a mystery. Sera is definitely a kick butt, sarcastic and strong-willed heroine who is also very vulnerable when it comes to a relationship and her belief in controlling her magic.
There is a small similarity to Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series in that each of the twins works for a mercenary guild and fights monsters with a sword in a world with a lot of magic. That’s pretty much where the similarities end as even though there are shifters and vampires, using magic is much bigger in this world.
I’m enjoying the series and like Kai more in this second book. show less

The writing is very engaging and it's easy to just devour the whole book.
But that doesn't change the fact that the plot construction couldn't be lazier.
There is not a single line of setup that has a later payoff. All facts and circumstances are revealed as they are needed which very much gives the impression the entire story is made up on the spot. No planning at all. All the dramatic turns the plot takes are incredibly contrived and unbelievable not only because everything is made up on the show more spot but also because a lot of the stuff just doesn't make a lick of sense regardless.
The same is true for logical reasoning in general. Aristotle would turn in his grave if he knew this book existed.
If you are a true master at suspending disbelief this will probably be a blast for you.
You might also enjoy this if you are just here for the slow/medium burn romance and don't care a lot about the rest. The romance while being clichée is cute and sweet. show less

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book to me. This was a fantastic read. In this installment, The Legion is training Leda and the trainees for Dragon's Storm, the fourth sip of nectar and the ability to do Elemental magic. As always, there is drama, suspense, and action. I loved the friendship between Captain Basanti Somerset and Leda. Also, my favourite part of the story was when Leda and Nero. They are amazing together, and they are as amazing as individual characters. I love show more reading about their missions and banter. The story also had a plot twist at the end, which I was not expecting. I wonder where the series will go from here. Overall, an amazing read. show less
